The notebook samples I chose to include in my portfolio show my progression in English 1102 as well as my progress in my inquiry project. I started with this very first “Writing into the Day”. In this entry I discussed the different types of inquires as well as research that I had done in the past. I think this was important to include because after completing English 1102 this changed drastically. The next sample I decided to use was the “Writing into the Day” that talks about primary research that I read about in the Mirabelli’s article as well as what I would do for my primary research. This was an important sample because as time went on and I worked on my primary research, it changed drastically from what I had originally planned. The next entry I chose to include was from March 20th. In this entry I talked about how difficult it was to find articles that discussed attendance and its effects of education all in one article. Obviously I didn’t look hard enough because when it came time to write my paper I found plenty of articles to write on. I then chose to use my sample that I wrote about my field research. In this sample I talk about what I found surprising and what I needed help on. The last sample I included was my “Writing into the Day” about my first inquiry draft. I feel like this entry brings all the other ones together. Everything I wrote about previously was brought together when I finally started writing my paper. I think that my inquiry notebook was very helpful throughout the semester. I was able to write my struggles, successes and anything else I needed to in this notebook. I could also write any kind of notes that I need and that I thought would be helpful in my papers.
